We’ve almost reached the end of our first full day of Camp 2013! From various conversations with campers and leaders I’ve gleaned that most people are worn out by the full day of activities we’ve had- but what a day it has been!

This morning we attended a church in Ulverston where Tom, one of the camp leaders, started our series on Luke. He spoke on the Parable of the Wise Man and Foolish Man who built their houses on the rock and the sand. The message was startlingly clear: we have two choices, to hear God’s word and obey or to hear it, ignore it and reject God. It was a great opportunity to meet with other Christians too. After this we headed to the beach apprehensively anticipating rain as the morning had started miserably with heavy downpours. However by the time we reached the beach the sun was out and anoraks were off so I think everyone was in high spirits!

After a tasty lunch we had a sand modelling competition (with entries including a ginormas dragon/dinosaur and an Aslan) and a Narnia-themed Wide Game which the younger boys tent somehow managed to win. We then all trudged back to the bus sleepy and content and headed back to Coniston for our evening meeting.

Matt spoke on Luke 10, the Parable of the Good Samaritan. It was amazing to be reminded of what real love is: that God had compassion and mercy on us and rescued us, by sending Jesus to carry the weight of our pain and sin on the cross. Wow! After this followed a marvellous (of course) roast dinner and yummy pudding.

A truly successful day in every way. (And definitely time for bed!)
