Everyone woke up this morning surprised to find, for the first time in recorded history in Coniston, that the sun was gloriously shining! It stayed like that for the rest of the day, and sun cream was needed for all.
The day began with the arrival of Steve, who came to share the teaching and preaching responsibilities with Jeff. He carried on with the story of Jacob and talked about his dream in Genesis 28.
Today was the first day of the adventure activities on camp, so the campers and leaders split into two groups to go either rock scrambling or kayaking. The latter provided the highlight of the day when one of the campers, Dylan, pulled camp veteran and leader Matt into the lake kicking and screaming leaving him drenched! Dylan was therefore named the first camp villain of the week, while there were three camp superheroes who showed great bravery facing their fears of heights and climbing on the rock scramble.
The cooks provided a wonderful lasagne followed by sticky toffee pudding. There was also cake to celebrate the ninth birthday of Lucas, but everyone seemed far too full for that! An evening of messy games lies ahead, before discussing the earlier talk in tonight’s tent prayers, then settling down for some well needed sleep before tomorrow’s walk.
Some photos have been uploaded to our flickr site. Please check out the photos from the last couple of days on in the 2016 camp collection.
