We here at Compass Camps would like to wish you a Happy Easter! The bible theme for Summer Camp 2021 was revealed a few weeks ago as Jesus in ALL the Bible, and one of our wonderful tent leaders, Mhairi (pictured below) has been thinking about how this fits with the Easter story…

At Easter we celebrate the death and resurrection of Jesus, the son of God. This year on Camp
we’re looking forward to seeing ‘Jesus in all the Bible’. Perhaps we can have a sneak peek at ‘Easter in all the Bible’, since the Old Testament speaks of the sufferings and subsequent glories of Christ (1 Peter 1:10-11).
Isaiah predicted Jesus’ death as the Servant who would suffer for the sins of his people (Isaiah 53:4-5). Jesus’ resurrection was foreshadowed in Abraham’s faith that God could raise the dead (Hebrews 11:17-19). His ascension fulfilled the promise that King David’s descendant would rule over God’s kingdom forever (Isaiah 9:7). And Job believed that, because of his Redeemer, after his death he would see God (Job 19:25-27).
Jesus suffered in our place, dying to pay the price of our sin (1 Corinthians 15:3). He was raised to life, as proof that his sacrifice had been accepted and we can be forgiven (Romans 4:25). He is now exalted at the right hand of God: David’s descendant, who will rule forever (Acts 2:30-33). And one day those who trust in him will be raised to live forever with him (Romans 8:11). We worship our Lord and Saviour, crucified, risen, ascended and reigning!
Thanks so much to Mhairi for sharing these brilliant ideas about Easter in all the Bible with us. To find out more about where Jesus is in ALL the bible, book on to camp 2021 now! In the meantime, we pray that you’ll have a great Easter, and will feel the hope and joy that Jesus’ death and resurrection brings (and that you get lots of Easter eggs!)
